There are a few things that make Towens the company that it is today

Our people

Lots of companies say that they are all about their people but in our case it is 100% true. The business is full of really nice people doing their best for our customers, for themselves and for each other every day.

Long standing relationships

One thing that you will notice about Towens is that a lot of our customers have been using our services for many years. They are attracted by the quality of the services that we offer but particularly by the people that they deal with on a daily basis.

Directly employed

We employ our drivers directly ourselves. We believe that as they are the face of our business that our customers see every day they should be part of the team like everyone else.

Fleet

We have a fleet on modern, well-maintained Euro 6 vehicles. We have our own fleet manager and a Fleet Services business that maintains our fleet of vehicles and vehicles for other people as well.

Environmental management

Waste management and haulage is a highly regulated industry with a substantial quantity of legal and regulatory requirements to comply with. We have the relevant processes and procedures in place to ensure that we safeguard our business and our customers interests.

Local

We believe that it is important to be local, understanding local needs and having local people working in the business. That is why we have developed by expanding into areas next to where we already operate so we can provide local responsive services from people that you know.

Innovative

Standing still is never an option in business and Towens is continually adapting and improving how it operates investing in new plant and equipment and developing new processes. This allows us to operate in an industry that is constantly evolving to both regulation and customer needs.

A consistent track record of progress

Here at Towens we are proud of our history and record in waste management and construction services, our association with Weston Super Mare, its business council and residents. Mainarea Ltd trading as Towens of Weston began on 14th July 1992 from a small yard on the Weston Europark. We did pretty much anything in the early days, except skips as Andy Towens was not permitted to compete with his previous employer under the terms of his severance. At this time Woodspring District were very supportive finding various civil engineering works for us to carry out.

In 1994 Towens merged with C-T plant a local plant hire company and the operation was moved to a small depot on Rectors Way. In 1997 we purchased two plots of land in Warne Road, moved in and began the skip side of the business. Soon after the millennium we were able to purchase some of the old Hutton Moor allotment land which backed onto our plot and it is this site that we occupy today.

In 2002 following 8 years of steady growth Mainarea Ltd changed to the two operating companies Towens of Weston Ltd and Towens Waste Management Ltd that you see today.

Trade waste processing and recycling

We handle well over half a million tonnes of waste and recycled aggregate per year and have developed the site into a fully functioning trade waste processing and recycling facility. In 2012 we were successful in purchasing the old council transport depot opposite our main site and expanded our operation further. 2015 saw the completion of our own vehicle maintenance workshop on the site of one of the original 2 plots purchased in 1997 and the formation of Towens Fleet Services Ltd.

In recent years we have established a waste recycling facility in Middlezoy near Bridgwater with a small offshoot in Clutton near Bath. We are also investing in an aggregate recycling facility on the old airfield in Westonzoyland where we will be producing a range of recycled sand and stone to supply local contractors and businesses.
